POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE OF SARASOTA COUNTY

The Police Athletic League of Sarasota County was founded in 1988 to help address the explosive needs of our fast growing community by serving young people with innovative programs.

Mission Statement

The PAL mission is to provide a safe environment for children to participate, learn, and achieve while developing positive relationships with other youth, adults, and law enforcement.

History

The Police Athletic League (PAL) was founded in 1910 when a Lieutenant in the New York City Police Department had the insight to establish an interactive program involving law i\enforcement officers and inner-city youth. This innovative program's positive impact on a-=risk young people became the foundation for an organization that was quickly adapted in communities throughout the country.

Sarasota County

The Police Athletic League of Sarasota County, a 501-C3 non-profit organization, is dependent on the financial support of organizations and individuals in our community to carry out our mission. The PAL programs in Sarasota County are:

PAL operates affordable after school programs in easily accessible locations in the county, supervised by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Street-Wise Parenting - Understanding Our Children and Their World Street-wise parenting educated parents about influences that their children face daily, how to identify adverse behavior and offer potential solutions.

Camp X-R.A.Y.D. - Examine Reality About Your Decisions PAL developed Camp X-RAYD in partnership with Teen Court recognizing the importance of early intervention with at risk youth.

Pony PAL - Building Self-Esteem and Character One of the most popular programs is the after school Pony PAL, the resources of the Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol Unit are utilized to teach equestrian skills and the responsibilities of caring for horses, building self-esteem and personal character.

The youth of today will be quality leaders of tomorrow with support and guidance. Please consider becoming a part of the PAL mission through a donation or by volunteering.
